The decision to honor those who have fallen to the deadly virus was announced after a request by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). They asked the president to commemorate the day America reached 100,000 deaths due to the coronavirus.
US flags will fly half-mast over the next three days to honor their memory. On Memorial Day, the US flag will continue to fly half-mast as Americans honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.
We salute you all.
