Democrats Berate Barr, Defend Rioters
(UnitedVoice.com) – On Tuesday, July 28, Attorney General William Barr met with the House Judiciary Committee for the first time in two years. The hearing was akin to a political debate that was steered to one side. The behavior of Democrats was raucous, malicious, and not worthy of a public meeting.
What a meeting it was… Democrats used every tactic available to try and make Barr their punching bag while defending rioters as peaceful protestors. However, as the savvy and skilled attorney general was berated, he methodically attacked the Democrats’ positions and countered them artfully with a raw talent not often seen under such extreme pressure.
What voters saw on Tuesday was another strong reason not to vote for a Democrat — unhinged, they refused to allow Barr the opportunity to respond to their positions stated as questions.
For years, they wanted him to come to a hearing. Now, we know why Barr didn’t and why he shouldn’t again. Democrats weren’t interested in learning what was in Barr’s mind. They were interested in trying to score political points for the November election. In the process, they may have just handed Republicans a gift.
What were the Democrats Goals?
Democrats had two goals: undermine the attorney general and ruin Trump’s re-election chances. It was clear from the beginning this was a campaign rally, not a serious meeting of the minds about how to solve the problems America faces. They achieved their goals under the guise of asking questions and not allowing a response under parliamentary procedures.
Democrats outrageously and falsely:
- Claimed there was little violence and called federal agents “storm troopers” sent to squash peaceful protests around the country. Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) ridiculously stated that Barr turned the government against its own people.
- Accused the Department of Justice (DOJ) and police of systemic racism.
- Accused the attorney general of doing the bidding of President Trump to help him win re-election.
- Stated that Barr helped Trump’s criminal allies while allowing prison inmates to suffer under COVID-19.
Rioters are Not Protestors
During some of the most intense moments, Barr was berated for sending in federal law enforcement to Portland, OR, to protect the federal courthouse. One after another, Democrats said federal law enforcement officers are there illegally, unconstitutionally, and are arresting peaceful protestors.
Barr shot back that they were not peaceful protestors. Instead, they were rioters who came “equipped for fighting.” He added that they “cannot reasonably be called protestors.”
Barr reminded the committee that if Democrat governors and mayors were doing their jobs, the federal government would need to intervene. In a moment of candidness, Barr rightfully said there are two sovereigns involved. In this case, the federal government rules over the states when it comes to protecting federal property.
The attorney general elaborates below in this clip:
In his most forceful statement, Barr asked when it was okay to burn down a federal courthouse.
“If someone went down the street to the Prettyman Court here, that beautiful courthouse we have right at the bottom of the hill and started breaking windows and firing industrial-grade fireworks in to start a fire, throw kerosene balloons in and start fires in the court, is that OK? Is that OK now? No, the U.S. Marshals have a duty to stop that and defend the courthouse, and that’s what we are doing in Portland. We are at the courthouse, defending the courthouse.”
Later in the meeting, Barr made a serious point that there was only one party sticking up for federal law enforcement officers, federal buildings, and condemning mobs. He expressed his concern that the Democratic Party was not condemning mob violence. The attorney general asked why Democrats can’t say the violence has to stop.
Clear Contrast This Fall
Yesterday’s hearing provided a glimpse into what’s at stake come November. On one hand, voters can choose a party who embraces and defends mobs, rioters, and lawlessness that threatens not just the security of the country, but their lives and livelihoods as well. Or, they can back a party that stands with peaceful protestors, law enforcement, and the Constitution.
Democrats have tried for four years to make the case that Trump is a big, bad, evil, orange man. Well, Democrats have shown us who they really are. It only took them 30 years to finally come clean thanks to their hatred of Donald Trump.
America has a choice to make about its future. I hope it chooses well.
