City Finally Takes Some Action
(UnitedVoice.com) – In a twist of political intrigue, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan (D) declared the Capital Hill Organized Protest (CHOP) an unlawful assembly. This comes one month after she proclaimed protesters were “peaceful” and “patriotic.” Early Monday morning, June 29, Seattle police, along with the FBI, began clearing out the autonomous zone after giving protesters eight minutes to leave. They entered wearing body armor and helmets, along with various weapons and tactical vehicles.
After issuing multiple dispersal orders to clear the area, officers have begun making arrests at 12th Ave/Pine Street.

The police took over CHOP after a series of shootings, homicides, robberies, assaults, and other violent crimes were reported over the last few weeks. As police went through the streets, protesters were seen overturning portable toilets. As of 10 a.m. EDT, 13 demonstrators were arrested for not following the order to leave.
Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best said, “enough is enough.” In recent days, there have been reports of multiple late-night shootings. Two teenagers were killed, and three others were seriously wounded. She also said her police department had to do a better job of engaging with the community and protesters.
It’s about time.
