Iran has been nothing but trouble in the news lately.  But then again, can we really trust the news media?  Iran reports CIA groups were captured for alleged spying.  One American is being sentenced to death, according to the Islamic Republic’s judiciary.  His case is passing through the appeals court, but may not be successful.  Other individuals were sentenced to ten years in the Iranian prison who were also accused of spying for the United Kingdom and the United States.

Iranian Prosecutors were trying for the death penalty for all of the alleged spies. Still, only one American was sentenced to death.  Tuesday, Gholamhossein Esmayeeli, a spokesman for Iran’s judiciary, stated, “One accused spy, Ali Nafariyeh, “has been sentenced to 10 years of prison and fined with the payment of $55,000 for spying for the CIA benefit.”  Another alleged spy, Mohammad Bapapour, received the same sentence as Nafariyeh.  Esmayeeli added to the report, “Another individual, namely Amir Nasab, has also been sentenced to 10 years in prison for spying for Britain.”

Esmayeeli first announced in July when the CIA spy team’s arrest was made to the public, “Members of the [spy] team were identified last year with strenuous efforts of the Iranian security forces and its agents were identified in Iran’s sensitive centers, including the nuclear and defense centers and the country’s public infrastructures and most of them were arrested”  He also stated in a previous case there were two others who were arrested and given a long term jail sentence.  The prosecutors requested the death penalty for those two spies in which the military courts completed their investigations.

There is some question to if the story is exaggerated or if it is even real.  Back in July, President Trump tweeted, The Report of Iran capturing CIA spies is totally false. Zero truth. Just more lies and propaganda (like their shot down drone) put out by a Religious Regime that is Badly Failing and has no idea what to do. Their Economy is dead and will get much worse. Iran is a total mess!”

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo elaborated on President Trump’s tweet on “Fox & Friends.”  He stated, “It’s part of their nature to lie to the world.  I would take with a significant grain of salt any Iranian assertion about actions they’ve taken.”  Fox also summarized the text, “Pictures of some of the alleged spies were reportedly shown on state TV, which also broadcast a documentary purporting to show a CIA officer recruiting an Iranian in the United Arab Emirates.”

Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence stated, “The identified spies were employed at insensitive and vital private sector centers in the economic, nuclear, infrastructure, military and cyber areas… where they collected classified information.  They had been working contractors or consultants.”

The claims stated arrest began in March and the statements which came from Iran said 17 were arrested.  There are no reports or confirmation to validate these many arrested.  On July 22, there was a tweet put out from Iran stating, “Photos of the some of the CIA intelligence officers and spies arrested by Iran. They are 17 spies, some of whom have received death sentences. Iran is going to broadcast a documentary on their arrest today.”

The reason the photos were questioned is that it only shows the alleged with their families and pictures which would have come off of social media. Usually, when people are captured in Middle Eastern countries, the photos show them as prisoners not as casual everyday life.  Iran touted their horns out of the ordinary when they claimed the alleged spies were captured and posting it all over Twitter.  Press TV from Iran posted this, “Coming soon on Press TV:  The Mole Hunt.  Iran has dealt a heavy to a CIA spy network in the region and beyond.  The upcoming documentary will shed more light on Iran’s counter-intelligence operations.”

Photos of CIA documents were also posted on Twitter.  If there were a busted reign of spies, it would not be as many as they claim.  For the U.S. to say, it was “lies and false propaganda” would lead us to believe it is only a show for bringing fear to Americans, the British, and the world.  The release of such information will be tragic if it is for real. This would mean, more CIA agent’s lives would be at risk, and American and British operations would fail.  Iran would only gain a false glory from false media.
