There is an adage that goes along the lines of “the pot calling the kettle black” and the war of words between Biden and Omar is a perfect example of what that saying means. Those perhaps a little farther along the road of life or even those who live in places like the Appalachia regions of the country might be a bit more familiar with that old saying.
All this adage means though, is that those of us with a dark past shouldn’t cast anything negative at those who are doing or who have done dark things themselves. It is honestly just a warning about judging others. Well, when it comes to the latest crossfire between Congresswoman Omar and Presidential candidate Biden, nothing truer could be said.
Rep. Ilhan Omar has recently been dealing with her own scandals and a litany of accusations about her actions and behaviors. Those behaviors range from the illegal to the immoral and they don’t stop there. That hasn’t kept Omar from being her normal vocal and opinionated self, however, as one story reported.
Quoting Omar from a recent interview, she said regarding Joe Biden, “There are few people who fit into the kind of progress that we all want to see in this country… and I would say he is not one of them.” She went on to say as our aforementioned story reported, “I think it has been very clear to many of the people who have been creating the kind of movement that is exciting generations, that we want somebody who really has a plan that is going to tackle a lot of the systematic challenges that we have, and he doesn’t… .” Of course with her pristine record and unblemished past of ethical behaviors, she is an ideal person to make such a judgment on someone’s character.
While Biden hasn’t responded to any of these accusations just yet, there are others like Ocasio-Cortez who have supported Omar’s pointed message. Representative Cortez, regarding Biden’s qualifications to be President said, “I think Joe Biden, his performance on the stage, kind of raised some questions in respect to that…” and she added almost like a subtle jab, “but I don’t want to say just because someone is 79, they can’t or shouldn’t run for president.”
That brings us to the next point and another adage that holds true which is, that a house divided cannot stand.” That phrase, probably more familiar to most of us, is precisely where the Democrats are treacherously standing. At this rate, all President Trump needs to do is stay out of the way and continue running the country as he has done so well for nearly three-quarters of his first term now.
It seems the Dems will take care of undermining themselves and will be the cause of their own undoing. The truth is, the smartest and best thing Biden could probably do is to not respond at all. That isn’t likely to happen though, despite the likelihood that Mr. Biden understands what it means to be the pot calling the kettle black.
This leaves the Democrats in a very precarious position because, with no unifying candidate to help a divided party, the Dems slim chances of winning the White House becomes even slimmer. While the Republican party has a leader who is making American great again and growing in power, the Democrats are seemingly tearing themselves apart.
It isn’t uncommon to see such an exchange from across the aisle, one side takes a swing, then the other swings back. What is shocking is to see them tearing themselves apart. Maybe by the time the election actually arrives, there won’t be anyone left from the Democratic party to oppose President Trump? Okay, of course, there will be, but don’t be surprised if the name on the Democratic ballot isn’t Biden, or Warren, or…
When the pot does call the kettle black, it is generally bad for both the pot and the kettle. In this case, it isn’t a good sign for any of the Democratic candidates, no matter who survives when the roof caves in!
